Dyslexia Testing and Diagnosis Sydney


Dyslexia Testing is part of the Comprehensive Psychological Assessment Centre and operates at 3 Sydney locations. We are specialised in diagnosing Dyslexia and our aim is to provide accurate assessments for families and to help children and adults move forward.  

Dyslexia Testing - Who is it for?

CHILDREN: Testing is useful for children who find reading or acquiring reading skills persistently difficult. Dyslexia testing is predominantly offered for children from about 4.5 years of age. This is the age when reading begins and problems begin to surface. 

ADULTS: Dyslexia testing is useful for adults who believe that they have never been diagnosed, but suffered from ongoing reading difficulties during their school years and continue to experience Dyslexia symptoms. 
 

Dyslexia Testing - What We Offer  

We are committed to providing high quality assessment and diagnostic services. We are specialised in the accurate evaluation of Dyslexia symptoms in children and adults and we are confident that we can help: 

  • All Dyslexia assessments are performed by qualified psychologists with post-graduate training. This means they have acquired minimum Masters Degree qualification and 6 years formal training. 

  • All Dyslexia assessments include an evaluation of your child's learning abilities and cognitive functioning.

  • Our Dyslexia tests include evaluations of all reading areas, from basic reading skills to comprehension.

  • Even if Dyslexia is NOT diagnosed, we can tell you exactly what are the cognitive (brain) processes or other difficulties that are blocking your child's progress. We will also make specific recommendations.

  • You will receive a full diagnostic report within 5 working days from the assessment date.

  • If your child IS diagnosed with Dyslexia, we will provide specific recommendations to help his/her learning progress. We will make recommendations for parents, teachers, school counsellors or for other professionals.

  Dyslexia Testing - How can it Help?

   Helping children to learn and to overcome the difficulties associated with Dyslexia depend on accurate diagnosis. There
   are several other disorders that may have similar symptoms as Dyslexia, such as anxiety, ADHD, childhood depression
   and undiagnosed visual problems, just to name a few. Professional testing procedures can separate Dyslexia from other
   difficulties, and if Dyslexia is diagnosed allows for the implementation of appropriate intervention strategies.

   A diagnosis of Dyslexia explains why children find it difficult to learn to read, why they are disengaged in school, and often
   why they are misbehaving. In most cases, a diagnosis is a relief and a way forward. 

   Inaccurate diagnosis of Dyslexia could lead to ignoring other problems that may be responsible for reading and general
   academic difficulties. This would further hinder a child's progress.
